Samsung revealed its expanded concept of Connected home at CES this year. Samsung expects this to embed more into peoples daily lives. Rather than depending on only single smart devices, Samsung’s next-gen connected home will power most of its home appliance product line. Below is a quote from Samsung’s SVP and GM of Home Appliances.

“Samsung is taking connected living to the next level with innovations that are more intelligent and intuitive, allowing people to get things done while enjoying time with family and friends.”

John Herrington, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics America.

If you remember Bixby, it is present in scope now. As matter of fact Samsung is elevating its position from being a voice assistant to an interface that will let users control hundreds of devices.

Home appliances will offer more personalized experience through screen as well as voice activated apps. Few examples from Samsung’s range of home appliances is the AI-powered laundry assistant in Samsung’s new front load washing machine and a Refrigerator which pings you in case you leave the door open. Wish it were smart enough to close the door itself as well !

Samsung had also been consolidating all of its smart apps under the banner of SmartThings with loads of devices which can be controlled via it. Credit goes to partnerships with the likes of Google, Ring and Plume.
