Huawei is the #2 smartphone maker in the world

Huawei, which shipped a record 200 million+ phones this year, is about to beat Apple to the mantle of second largest phone manufacturer globally.

Huawei which claims to be a leader in 5G technology, has faced stiff resistance from several goverments who have discouraged use of their 5G equipment and smartphones over privacy and data security concerns.

That hasn’t stopped the Chinese telecom giant from shipping over 200 million unit in 2018, making it the second-biggest smartphone maker in the world behind Samsung.

Huwei’s ascent is driven by strong sales of its Huawei P20, Honor 10, and Mate 20, smartphones, which has resulted in almost 35% jump in Huawei’s smartphone sales in 2018.

This also reflects the ramped sales of Huawei phones in China, Europe and Africa this year, where its affordable yet feature packed phones are well received.
